What is a Neighborhood Association? (BHNA in particular)
A Neighborhood Association is a group of residents who meet regularly to accomplish goals in their neighborhoods, such as crime prevention or litter control for example. The association may include home owners and renters, apartment residents, business owners, school and church officials, and members of nonprofit organizations. Depending on the goals of the group, meetings may be held twice a year, once a quarter, or every month.
Neighborhood associations help represent neighborhood residents to elected officials, identify challenges and problems in the neighborhood, support change and improvement efforts, help resolve conflicts, provide volunteers for community projects, and find and get resources to make the neighborhood a better place to live.
Our Bomber Heights Neighborhood Association has goals for serving our neighborhood that include:
*Helping neighbors get to know each other by holding social events
*Making physical improvements such as installing street lights, a children’s park, and community street sign toppers, building a walking circle and commissioning artwork for South Z Boaz park.
*Holding regular neighborhood clean-ups
*Forming a Crime Watch to reduce crime
*Organizing to share opinions with representatives of our city government
We are a Voluntary Formal organization — We have an organized group of residents who are working together to increase awareness of our presence in Bomber Heights and in the City of Fort Worth. We promote volunteerism and actively seek to include residents in beneficial social endeavors. We provide community service hours to students who are looking for ways to fulfill that requirement for school. We collect voluntary dues which we then use to benefit the neighborhood. We meet at regular intervals. We have a 501(c)3 status with the IRS. We have a Bomber Heights bank account for organization funds. An once a year, in November, we elect officers for the Executive Board.
BHNA general meetings are held on the 1rd Monday of each month at Agape Baptist Church, at 6 pm.
You are unique and valuable. We have a place for you in our neighborhood association. Come to a general meeting and get to know us. We want to meet you, hear your concerns, and tap your volunteer spirit!
